    Is it worth it?

I'm considering putting a full stereo system into my SS. I don't race so the weight isn't an issue.

My question is, is it worth it? I've found someone selling a good millhouse box with solobaric subs in it and was planning on doing good 6.5" speakers, good 6 channel amp, good HD radio/MP3/CD/aux-in head unit, etc. I've added it all up and it's looking to be around $1,000 out the door plus a weekend's worth of labor to gut the Monsoon and put it all in with some additional sound deadening beyond what I've already done on the doors and sail panels. I'm not looking to blast around trying to rattle my own fillings out or win any competitions but I am a perfectionist and won't cut corners.

    Input?

yeah it would be worth it. I love a good stereo system in any car. only suggestion I have for you is to use that 6 channel amp as a highs only amp and get a good 2 channel amp for the subs..
Alright... I'm starting it now. Try not to piss yourself.

I say, "Hell yeah it's worth it!!!" There is nothing I enjoy more than cruising in my car listening to my favorite tunes turned up loud.

It's just a personal preference thing. I don't like my main amp and subwoofer amp to share a common power supply circuit.

    Here's my setup...

1st amp powers the rear speakers (component) in the hatch
2nd amp powers the door speakers (component) and back seat speakers
3rd amp powers the left subwoofer

4th amp (hidden behind sub) powers the right subwoofer

    Plus a 1 Farad capacitor

    Sound totally rocks!

Worth it, I have the millhouse box and is great and racing friendly and simple to remove. I'm with White Rascal, my sub amp always has to be seperate from the rest. Just a thing for me, kinda like a tv with built in dvd and vhs, I have to have them all seperate. Easier to point out problems etc..

okay, honestly for me, unless your WAYYYY into your stereo, you dont need that much, if you get a good aftermarket stereo, one amp a 10 or 12" sub in a stealthbox you will get plenty of good power and bass out of it, at least thats from my experience. The thing i like about the single sub in stealthbox is that when you are driving around you arent heard from a million miles away, it thumps the crap outta your car but once you are outside your car you can barely hear it.

All I did was a add 4 infinity 62.7i's(front doors and sailpanel)around $200 total shipped for 4 off ebay, ran my highs from the 4inch hatch speakers to the sailpanel highs on the 62.7is. Bought about 8 feet of sound deadening(eDead, about $1 a foot, put it on the backside of the hatch panels and under the carpet. Added a Kenwood x790 hu(around $200 off ebay). Millhouse box($200), 2 memphis audio 10s($200 for 2 local), MTX old school 2150x amp(had it, but bought another one off ebay awhile back for cheap), install kit(around $60), PAC swi-x to keep the steering wheel controls($60), antanna adaptor($6), dash kit(around $10 total).
    So,
    Infinity 62.7i($200)
    Memphis 10s($200)
    Millhouse box($200)
    Sound deadening($20)
    Kenwood x790($200)
    sub amp($60 used)
    Install items($136)
with just a basic upgrade that came to $1000
I kept all the 62.7is running off the stock Monsoon amp, sounds great and I don't need any more than this.
