I wouldn't put in LEDs unless you want someone to slam into you... unless you are custom-designing an LED panel, you are wasting your time... no one can see your brake lights...

I had some LED brake light's and they are very dim. I took em out and put factory one's back in.

Where did you get them from? 'cause there's a big difference between LED bulbs from different manufacturers.

If you get ANY factory-replacement LED "bulb" (typically an array of 20-30 LEDs,) then you will NOT have enough light to even meet DOT standards...

I had a third gen firebird, with all EIGHT of those direct-fit LED replacement bulbs... some off the internet, some from AutoZone, and people almost slammed into me on a daily basis...

I did make my own custom LED third brake light, and it was bright as hell, but that's because it was a huge board, jam-packed with LEDs all facing the right way...

I still don't see how it melted the plastic... those bulbs aren't hot enough... unless you put in some over-wattage bulb... but they are all about the same... I put in practically any bulb that fits and is dual-filament. Makes no difference... They manufacture the same bulb and label it 15 different ways...
