Switching the radio with the HVAC Controls

I want to install a 7" flip up video screen in my dash, but I don't want the screen to cover the gauges I'm installing in the three center vents in my dash, so I want to move my HVAC controls up and my radio down, so the screen covers the HVAC controls I never use

My question is this...what is required to do this? Can I just flip the outer trim over?

Has anyone done this successfully and can show me pics?

That's the first thing I thought of. I don't see why not. Shouldn't take but a couple of minutes to try. Only problems I could see you encountering is not enough slack on the wires that connect to the controls.

I tried this to help out a guy in another thread. The wire selector isnt long enough. The trim ring did work but i didnt snap it on.

I just went into my garage and spent about 30 minutes ripping everything out...there will be some need for custom modification when it comes to the rear support for the radio...The trim thing did work, I jus had to take off two of the push connects (I'm fairly confident it will stay on with only two of four there).

I think I'm going to wait till I get my new radio before I start hacking up the plastic in there.

My car has all the plastic removed behind the trim ring. PO had a giant dvd player in it My radio is only support by the 4 bolts up front. Did you see if you could move the AC controls because the wire for the AC is way too short on mine.

Dont worry about the rear radio support if you get a new one. If all the control cables and lines have enough slack I dont see why it wouldnt work. Post some pics when you do it.
