Red face Stock CD Player on a Trailblazer

Ok, my wife has an 05 Trailbalzer, and the CD player doesn't work. The CD will eject but won't accept the CD. I guess the head unit needs to be replaced, because if it needs to be cleaned you can't insert a cd cleaner in it. What do you all think?

You can't get the cd in? Or it just won't read it?

Exactly! I shove it in and it won't go all the way in but it is enough that when I hit eject that it will spit it out. I think we will have to get a new one, because the radio works and everything else.

lol, is that your wife in your avitar? I'm on my way over to help! j/k

Can you see if anything is lodged in there? If nothing, the motor that pulls it my be bad/not getting power (not sure if the same motor pulls the cd as pushes it out). You could try something simple like double checking the harness is hooked up properly, but I'm sure the power source for (if simply disconnected) is internal, since there are only 2 power sources. Plus doesn't look good if all of the other features work. So unless you got an electrical engineering degree hanging in the office room, it might be time to replace it.

Maybe see if you can find someone who has the same CD player still under warranty, depending on how many years GM used the same model?

If you have a CD you dont care about, and are ready to replace it anyways, you could try jamming one in there, lol. Other than that, I'm out of ideas.

GM is good for putting the same CD player in 8 different models, I always check out eBay and craigslist first. If you want brand new OEM, www.rockauto.com has some of the best prices.

If you want to get really adventurous, when you replace the old, take it apart and see if you can find out what was wrong. Thats what I would do, nothing to lose.
