    Static Noise

I have a 1998 Camaro SS with an aftermarket kenwood cd player. Im getting a static crackling noise from the passenger door speaker. This noise only occurs while the engine is running if its off and the cd player is going it doesnt happen. Does any one have any ideas? I cant find the ground to check that and i checked the connections and made sure no wires were crossed so any help would be much appreciated thank you.

need to find ground. If you're checking other connections, ground shouldn't be too hard to find. almost always a solid black lead on the harness of the Cd player and prolly grounded somewhere close--should be able to find it. If it's a poor location or dirty or whatever, fix that and go from there.

you can pull cd player in 10 mins easy--pop the trip peice (snaps out) and undo 2-3 screws and pull it out. Easy to locate wires from there!

I followed the black wire but it goes under the dash it seem. Should i have to be digging that far? Or is it possible im just missing it?

follow it and see where whoever grounded it! if the spot sucks, ground it somewhere else! don't remember where i did mine, but usually just a matter of backing out a stock ground location screw and adding this to it. or, you drill you own hole and ground it. paint, insulation, etc makes for a weak ground--you want bare metal to metal!

mine also does this from time to time out of the passenger door speaker. I just ignore it as it goes away shortly after.
