Smoked out Instrument Cluster
Hello everyone. My first post and need some help. I have a 99 WS6 and i decided to get a different instrument cluster because the one i have in now has been modified and am trying to go back to original and was cheep. The one i put in was from a 2002 t/a. Came home, took apart, pulled one, placed other and within 3 seconds smoke and that very bad electrical burn smell. Yanked out quickly and hoped the burn was done. I don't know if it was the cluster or my wiring, hopefully the cluster. Put original back in gently and all worked well, wooo. Anyone know what or why this happened? Guess there is a short or something in the cluster but all looks fine. Are 99 and 2002 clusters not compatible? I know my 99 the temp guage starts at 100 deg and the 2002 starts at 160 deg. Maybe that has something to do with it? Thanks
