Rear hatch speakers
02 z28 t-top Monsoon system.
What size are the speakers in the VERY back? Are they 5x7 or 6x9 or what. I know all the other ones are 6 1/2's. Just curious, I checked all the websites like crutchfield and best buy, and they only list the front 4 speakers.

they are 4 or 4.5" full ranges. just unhookem and run these wires to the sails and buy a nice set of 6.5" 2 or 3 ways. Just did it, sounds great.

If he doesn't have a sub....he will lose the great majority of the bass he has from the sails. They are 4" round - best off just unhooking them and leaving them like that if you are upgrading fronts to components, amping, etc -- if you want all speakers still/leaving it stock, go ahead and replace them.

I have the monsoon system and replaced the speakers in the back seat area with the 7K.v2 from ED and the fronts with infinity's so should i just unhook the back speakers or replace them?, I was looking at retro fitting in some 2 ohm 5x7 or 6x9 infinitys.

It is 4". Be warned that you will have to screw the new ones in since the factory speaker plate fills the hole and aftermarket doesn't. I upgraded them, but might mod the space later and go with 5x7 in the back for more power handling.

The mounting area strikes me as a bit too flimsy to hold anything larger than a paper-coned 4" component set. I guess if you built a box that fit the shape of the plastic and laid it underneath, you could do whatever you want. I wouldn't free-air mount a 5x7 to that plastic though.

so with the monsoon system a set of 2 ohm 5x7's would work or no, and yes is it fine to run with the back two speakers unhooked?

the hatch speakers are 4 inch mid ranges and 3 in tweeters i think. I just pulled them out and replaced them with 4 in coaxials.
