Rear Backup Camera - connecting to reverse lamp
I'm in the process of installing a new HU in 2002 WS6. Got myself a backup camera and am trying to find the easiest way to connect to the reverse lamp so that when I put the car in R, the video will automatically come on.
Anyone know where if there's a reverse lamp cable accessable somewhere in the front, or is the best bet to just splice into one of my backup lights?

if u have a pop out screen u can do what i did. I think i grounded it or something, to where i could look out the rear anytime i wanted. It was a pretty cool mod.

Was? You no longer have the car?
The HU I'm installing is the new Alping INA-W900 and the manual says connect the reverse cable from the HU to the + side of the back lamp signal. Wonder if I connect it to a toggle switch and then run it back to ACC power if that would give me what you had?
Sounds like a cool mod and definitely better than having the camera only come on when putting the car in reverse.
Like something out of James Bond.... Now if only these new HU units had digital outputs for smokescreens and rear firing missles!
