I have a Passport 8500 X50 mounted in the middle of window and its rear detection is insane, saved me a number of times when I cop pulls out behind you and creeps up on ya. Front detection is pretty great as well but its side detection truly sucks. Had a cop sitting on the side of the road in a parking lot and the detector didnt even go off until i was 100 feet away from him.
Paid $200 for it and does its job well

You can also pick up used V1 for around 200-250 (I just got a second one for 175). Just ask for the serial number and go on their website to see if its the most up to date (otherwise it will cost alittle more to send it to them for an upgrade...if you want the latest version)

I most recently went with a "Beltronics" unit, and I am very happy with it.

I stopped using mine when I found out none of them can really detect a laser gun just radar. They detect a laser but cops already have you clocked by then because a laser only sends out a signal when the trigger is pulled

Cobra is crap. I have the $98 one. Epic fail.
47 in a 40...gave me a 200ft heads up maybe.
The side detection is horrible. The cop has to be right beside me on thebside roads...no to mention other fuzz busters, banks, hospitals, and other high security systems set it off and its quiet as hell. If your volume is over 12... You cant hear it and its not the brightest of lights either. And as for laser jammers...cops are not as smart as you think...especially in southern indiana they arent smart...theyre only asshole.
Well on a side note....
I did some reasearch one day when i was bored..
The fastest a cop car can run is 155...thats the undercover Mustang GTs
crown vic and impalas are governered at 135.
And the chargers are 143 i believe.
SUVs run around 112 or so...
It was a few weeks ago so im not 100% sure on those numbers. But i kno how most of cops cant drive that well and around here...they normally dont expect people to run.
Dont get me wrong. i dont have a problem with authority. I have problem with authority that sit on the side of the road and radar kids driving to high school. Thats bull shit IMO. They recently changed a speed limit area...from 55 to a 40. got my dad for a 55 in a "40"...the cop stated that it was changed earlier that week while he handed my dad a ticket.
Dont give me the "they are just doing their jobs" bull crap...
Every weekend their are atleast 2 parties i know of where underaged drinking...and pot...and other crap goes on. But yet they are too busy sitting on their asses in an empty parking lot radaring...
Ahh nothing like the relaxing thoughts of our tax dollars working hardLast edited by BashamWS6; 06-11-2010 at 11:57 AM.
