it sucks BAD when you know cops are looking for you, and what they can do to you for street racing....its all about being in the wrong place at the wrong time!!!

testing Escort 8500 vs V1
Making the road trip from Oklahoma to Indianapolis this weekend for the NASCAR races. We are taking both an escort 8500 and a v1 and putting them up side by side so we can see which one is better.

Jesus, I cant believe these threads keep coming up and its always a violent circle jerk.
I played the cheap bastard route for a while and bought other detectors. Unidens, a shitload of Bels, Escorts, Cobras. I finally said fuck it and got a V1 and ill never go back. I treat that bastard likes hes gold too. If my T-tops are off and I dont want to put them on, I take the V1 with me everytime.

ESCORT SOLO 2
Battery or cord operated is the best cause you can hide it plus you get front/rear protection no false alarms full protection from all known police electronics and it keeps you invisible (V2) protection. Police cannot detect your detector. $ 350.00

I bought a $250 one from walmart because I had tons of store credit and it was a piece of shit so I turned around and sold it to a friend that wanted it just for "bragging rights" for $150 and tried their $150 one and it works perfect.

V1 all the way. They were the first with Bogey counter and Directional Arrows which are worth there weight in gold. Everyone i meet that comes with me on trip ends up buying a V1 shortly after. There A1 alsing system is fantastic at auto muting. Great Detector, its not flashy so if you by chance leave it in the window a lot of thieves think its old as hell because it doesnt have digital display, had a thief break in to my car steal the cds, and leave the V1 and this happened to my buddy as well. I have had it for 7 years now and it was the best $450 i ever spent. I have only gotten one ticket since owning it and it was because i was clocked by Airplane which is fine by me because if thats what it takes to give me a ticket so be it
You also cant upgrade the other detectors like you can with the V1

Bel rx 65, has not failed yet check out tests on the internet you will see it is always top 2 or 3. Wife got two tickets the first 2 weeks after I got her the BMW, bought the rx 65 no more tickets that was nearly a year ago.

Got back from Indianapolis on Monday. The V1 vs Escort 8500 test went all the way up there and back. It was pretty much a toss up between the 2 on how far they picked up signals. I think the 8500 gets less false alarms, but the V1 has more 360 degree protection. Over all I would have to say the V1 wins because of the arrows you know where the signal is coming from and for me that helps. I will be taking back the 8500 to the store I bought it from and will be ordering a V1. The one I had was a friends and had to give it back.

Going through the hills in Missouri it was about a half a mile. Flat land in Illinois, the most boring state to cross in the USA on I-70, they would read about a mile out. Always hard to tell because you dont know if the cop has his radar on all the time or just turned it on.
