You know what radar detectors are good for?? Telling you when your getting a ticket! Depending on the state the cop doesn't even need to get you on radar he just has to estimate your speed. One last tidbit if you do get pulled over and you have a radar detector you WILL get a ticket every time.

EDIT-If you still insist on running one get an expensive one don't bargain shop. Cheap ones will annoy you to no end with false detections and you will have a much much higher chance of getting a ticket.

The only way a cop can estimate your speed is if you are passing cars quickly or you are going far beyond the speed limit.

I don't see how a cop's "guess" on your speed would hold up in court....

I have not had a detector in years. When I had them I still racked up tickets. Now I follow a couple of simple rules and have'nt had a ticket in years. When crusin I drive slow enough to be seen and look at other rides and women. When I want to put it down I just don't speed were I can't see. Think about it. If you cant see around the corner or over the hilltop then slow down. There is always someone who wants to go faster (no matter how fast you are going) so use them as your blockers. If I want to run you, I run in known areas, and I still scout it out first.
