    pioneer stereo

Ok I got this trans am and it came with a PIONEER stereo, OK the guy I bought it from hooked it up, so when ever you turn it off it loses it's settings, it has a prewired harness for it and looks like everything is OK but he had the switch wires and battery wires together, if I take them apart and hook it up switch to switch and battery to battery the stereo won't come on and the Odometer light is off.

I checked the fuses looks like nothing is blown.

He has the original stereo so I am going to get it from him

did he short something out all fuses check ok

If he has the battery and switch wires run together off the radio he probably has them both hooked up to the switched power. When you turn off the key, all power is lost to the radio so it loses its settings. Just take the battery wire (most likely yellow) and hook it up correctly and it should work. Did he hack up the factory wiring harness or did he use a wiring adapter?

this^^^^.......the yellow wire will be constant hot.....while the red will be switched power meaning it will only be hot when the key is on....most likely this is your problem...in fact im willing to bet on it. if he used a wire adapter, then it should be color coded, if not then hes an idiot.
