    Pioneer DEH-p77

Looks like the CD player on my factory monsoon system has died. When I put in a CD now it just says "Err" and spits it back out. Looking through the threads, it looks like this is a pretty common problem. Someone said a good replacement is the Pioneer DEH-p77. My question is: do the steering wheel controls work with that one (if so, do all of them work)? I'm addicted to the steering wheel controls, and I will replace it with the same one if that's what I have to do to be able to use them.

    Thanks

Yes the steering wheel controls can still be used as long as the aftermarket head unit uses a infrared remote control. The most common interface is made by pac called a SWI-X

Before you replace factory head unit try this. Disconnect battery for about 5 minutes & reconnect. Then retry another disc. I had the exact same problem, It pulled down the battery until it was dead as a hammer.Hooked up a trickle charge and, "WALLA". Everything has worked fine ever since.

I wouldn't even try that - haha....I would take any excuse to get rid of the factory HU as a blessing.
