New head unit
Im sure somebody has asked this before, but i really couldnt find a good thread on it so here I go. I have the monsoon and Im installing a new head unit and im wondering if I should keep the stock amp or go for a new one. If not, can i have some kind of instruction on wiring up the new head unit with the stock amp please thanks.

There are several threads on this issue, plus a sticky on Monsoon wiring diagrams under the Stereo and Electronics tab. Your biggest issue will probably be the dual voice coil speakers -- that has thrown more than a few owners. If you choose to maintain the stock Monsoon amp and install aftermarket speakers there have been problems noted.

doing all that wiring is a pain in the ass so i put rockfordfosgate power seiries 61/2 in the front doors and the sail panels then put a 4 channel amp in the rear where the factory amp goes then you can use the factory wires that are back there to connect the amp to all 4 speakers its very easy get rid of that shitty monsoon sterio

ill have to check the other threads, but cant you just swap the head unit just like any other car? my thought would be the signal is sent to the amp which sends it to the speakers, so any aftermarket would just plug in ahead of whatever else is there. yes? no? my cd player took a dump and im going to replace soon. never mind. i should have looked there before i bothered with this. ill learn.

You can replace just like a non monsoon. Just don't forget the antenaa adaptor.
