It's just a cut 2x4 and MDF board. It fits pretty well between the rear seats. I will probably make another with side skirts that come down. What do ya think?

It might would look better if it was a nicer amp but I have to give it to you for ingenuity. I'm not a fan of putting it there. Make for a warm arm rest on those cold nights. With all the wiring, isn't it just easier to have it in the back? If I ever needed an amp I always thought about keeping it under the left or right sail panels...which ever one had more room. Would an amp fit there?

That amp is actually a pretty nice one. It's the Diamond D3 600.1. You should check out some of the Diamond Audio stuff. But I am going to be switching it out. I just put it on there to get a feel for it. I will be getting one of the new Rockford Fosgate P1000db amps matched up with two of their P3D412's. As far as the location, I don't really care about the arm rest thing. I thought about it, and I just don't have many people that ride back there anyways. I didn't really wanna mount it in the back because of all the sunlight. I may tint the windows later, but not dark enough for that.

Oh, and as far as mounting amps under panels, I would not recommend it. Unless you are going to mount a switchable fan with it. There just isn't enough airspace and the amp would more than likely overheat.

just looks very out of place IMO -

also -- I guess I prefer the more common trunk well area on a rack there rather than letting potential thieves know that the system isn't stock..

Well, that's why I also have an alarm equipped with a perimiter sensor. But I guess that counts for nothing. And either way you mount it, it can be seen by potential thieves. So either way if they want it bad enough they're gonna get it. Now that I think about it, since it doesn't matter where I mount it on the inside of the car, I'll just duct tape it to the hood with a big note saying "FREE".

Hidden in the well is the most common place for custom setups -- amp rack on back -- check out Subthump.con if you aren't sure what I'm referring to.

Yeah yeah, I saw it on subthump.com. I know that's where everyone else puts them. That's one of the reasons that I don't want to. Another being that when I get the new box in there that option will no longer be an option. Just wanted to try something new.

I think that's a creative location if you want you car broken into and get you shit jacked. Have you considered putting the amp underneath front passenger seat?

What's a creative location -- you aren't referring to the typical "subthump" rack, are you? --I don't think you were since that's hidden....but that's what you quoted so I wasn't sure..

The amp I have planned is actually too big to fit there. And like I previously mentioned, the only other place is above the gas tank, in even clearer view of potential thieves. So again like I said, sounds like either way, at least from some of your points of view, my shit is getting jacked! haha

what are you going to do w/ t-top storage? im running into that problem, and im probably going to just stick w/ MTX's custom enclosure. I'll mount the amp on the gas tank hump, but I have tint and extensive experience in making it look stock. I just want a little more bump than one 10" sub plus the box MTX makes is only .6 cubic feet, so I am limited to the subs I can choose. Currently its looking like an Image Dynamic's IDQ 10"...but I want more bang!!! I could build a box for above the gas tank, but then I'll have nowhere to put my amps and processors

You've probably seen it before, but SubThump.com has a T-Top dual 12/10 box that is actually very nicely done. It is a little pricy but all the reviews that I have found for it are great. Take a look at their site. They have amp racks that you may like too.
