New amber light harness and turn signal

2001 Trans Am. The amber running light and turn signal light socket and wire harness rusted out and I replaced it. They work fine as long as the fog lights and head lights are off. If I turn them on, the turn signals do not work and the dash indicator for the turn signal is "on".

I know this is an old post but I have the same problem. Anyone know how to fix the turn signal indicator coming on with the headlights?

It has been some time but as I remember when I installed the new harness I had 2 of the wires reversed. The color codes did not match. It was a simple fix. I just switch the wires around until it worked. Owning a TA is like having a baby. They take constant attention.

It does sound like a wiring mix up. I just installed new DRL sockets in our car. I used my multi-meter to test each of the wires and match it up with the contact in the socket, then did the same for the new sockets to ensure that it was wired correctly.

I HAD to have my mechanic look into my T/A for SAME problems. Replaced Sockets and bulbs, sorta worked, intermittent. Tried messing with the wiring, making sure everything was good. No change. Mechanic told me it was the "Flasher". Up inside the dash. He was almost POSITIVE it was in the column, said they are "known to go", but was surprised to find it was the flasher. At any rate, all new front markers, bulbs, and time for Diagnostics, $150. WELL WORTH the annoyance. haha. Hope that helps, Good luck!
