Need some advice on replacing my stock speakers!

    Hey all

I work for Panasonic so I get a good employee discount. I am looking to replace all of the speakers in my new 2000 SS since most of them are crackling.

Can you guys take a look at this link and tell me which of these speakers I chould get?

    http://panasonic.ca/English/car/cara...s/cj-a1623.asp

If they arent any good what should I go for? (within the same price range, these prices are CANADIAN)

And how many speakers do I need?

Just to give you a heads up, I have a factory deck that I will be upgrading, and I dont have a box with a sub till the spring, I am getting a stealth box with a 10" sub.

And I listen to Hip Hop, and pretty much anyting else, and even talk radio sometimes So give me some opinions!

    Thanks everyone!

what do you do at panasonic? you work there, but don't know much about the products?

that's a pretty sweet SS by the way.

you'll need 6 speakers all together. 6.5 co axls in the doors. 6.5 mid ranges in the sails and 4" in the rear hatch. for the front, you'll probably have to do a little modification to wire all four speaker wires to the new speaker. if you look through the threads, you'll find more info.

But most people will tell you, a new head unit and or a new amp, to replace the monsoon, will help out a lot. you'll probably find that the best thing to replace first, would be the HU.

I THINK you'll do ok. just if you plan on using factory wiring, read up on the installation of the door speakers. it's pretty simple. i did it to my JL's

Ok, if you plan on hooking up too your monsoon system, ie just replacing the speakers at this time and not the hu then you will need too get some two way speakers. They will have the four connections instead of "rigging" up the speakers. The front two speakers are the only ones you need to get. The rear four are just straight forward speakers. I think i put 4" in mine out back and 6.5's behind the seats. I kept the stock size up front and went with two way speakers, it will sound like poo if you try just hooking up two wires.
If you plan on doing hu and speakers at same time your gonna have too look into a amp bypass or re-wire all of your speakers...

i never had any problems running the speakers off the monsoon amp with my after market HU. there's no wiring issues going to the HU. as long as you get the 88 and up GM wiring harness, it plugs right up, and you match the wire colors together with the back of the stereo.

and not all two way speakers will have the extra set of prongs for the speaker wires. My two way JL's only had one. which required "rigging". it's not a hard process.

as far as the fronts you just need a good set of component speakers which will come with crossovers that also act as a distribution block and will make things much easier. the crossover will make sure your tweeters are only kicking out high freqs and your 6.5s will take the mid freqs and just let that 10 in the back handle all your bass. Personally I think you would be better off doing away with the monsoon amp and finding a good 6 channel amp and rerunning all the speakers..

id get either the 1623's or the 6900's for the doors, and then the 1023's for the rear hatch. and for the sails, that's really up to you. i'd put 8's there with an amp. but that's just me.
