need amp advice
i want to amp my speakers in my car but im not sure how to go about doing it
i got pioneer 2x110 for my 4x6s up front
and 2x420 for my 6*9s in my rear
i want to amp them but im afraid of over amping the front speakings or underamping the rears.
is there a equalizer or somethign i can use to change the wattage going to my front and rears. or can i just use a standard amp?
if so what size amp should i use?91' Camaro RS V8 305, 360 K&N, MSD, Edelbrock headers, Flowmaster, Manual Swapout, 3.73 Gears, 3600 Watt Sound System

any 4 channel amp you use should have two separate gain controls so that you can control the amount of amping that is done to front and rear.
You shouldn't really need anything in particular or special to make it work.
I'm curious how you have come up with a 3600 W system in your car with no knowledge of this stuff.

3600 is the subs, i know how to install it all, the subs run their own amp each, so i just matched RMS levels and adjusted the sub boost on the amps.
i wasnt sure if amps come with controls that can adjust the wattage going out to each speaker
so theres a way for me to adjust the rms and max levels going out to each speaker or do i have to buy a seperate component for that? ive never done speaker amps before but ive done subs. i havent really looked into it i was just tryin to get quick advice.Last edited by TigerZ; 11-17-2005 at 07:19 PM.

The Pioneers up front are probably 50 watts rms and the back 6x9's are probably not 420 watts rms. My Memphis audio 10's are only 200 watts rms and 400 peak and with a MTX 450 watts rms 4 ohm mono amp I max them out and can be heard for a block.
I see the reason DrMillhouse asked about the 3600 watts and even going to subs 3600 watts of real power is massive. You would need multiple batteries, have multiple $800 subs and upgraded alternator etc etc etc. Even my 450 real watts rms MTX amp running 2 Memphis 10's makes my cars voltage drop at lights and I have the biggest Optima battery that would fit and a 2 farad cap(which I don't think does anything). I see these amps running about 1,200 watts taking 3 40 amp fuses and that 120 amps would use almost all the juice my alternator makes.
If you do have a true 3600 watt sound system, post up some pics. I'm sure everyone would like to see it.Last edited by rotwiler; 11-24-2005 at 09:36 PM.

Ya gotta love it. I guess no one does math anymore. 3600 watts outta 12 volts, yeah, that makes sense, everyone has a spare 300 amps (ok, maybe the system isn't 100% but this is a fantasy anyhow) wandering about. The battery would see .04 ohms across it. Reality check, please! Hook 'er all up, if it blows, it blows.
