Monsoon question
Ok, I dont think I have the full monsoon system but its an 2000 ss camaro and I opened the door panels and there is the monsoon looking speaker with 4 wires going to it. I have some brand new decent component speakers and am running low on cash at the moment and was wondering If I could just hook two of the wires to the new component speaker and it would sound alright? Also, Is there 6.5" woofers in the panels right behind the driver and passenger seat? Are these considered the subwoofers on these cars? Then 4" in the back by the hatch?

Black- 2002 Chevy Camaro SS SLP
You'll be fine for now if you hook up the components. Did you get the car with an aftermarket deck. It sounds like you do have the monsoon system. I hear if you hook up an aftermartket stereo in the camaro w/monsoon it wont sound the same unless you buy something that hooks up to the amp as well, a bit complicated. But you can always go to your local chevy dealer and ask them if your car came stock with the monsoon system.

My 95Z I had came with the Bose setup, and when I added an aftermarket stereo I needed some sort of "black box" to make it all work right. Best Buy had it.

The monsoon doesn't need anything special to work with aftermarket headunits. The bose is a different story.

I just yanked out my Monsoon and replaced it with a Kenwood. I figured the amp was built into the stereo like the aftermarket deck that I put in. If it is not then where is it?

It is in the rear of the car in front of the spare tire.

Oh I wondered what that was. I thought it was some kind of sensor or something. When I plugged in the Kenwood HU it sounded fine but it has it's own built in 50x4 Mosfet. Now you have me curious again.

The monsoon amp powers several speakers, the kenwood powers the rest. The monsoon also gets its signal from the kenwood.
