Key Ignition Wire +12 volt
Hi all,
I just bought 2 autometer gauges, Fuel Pressure Gauge and a Boost/Vacuum gauge for the center A/C vents. Gonna buy a third gauge soon. For my 2000 Trans Am LS1.
They are digital not mechanical.
Here is the the Boost/Vacuum gauge I bought #5959:

My question is, the Installation guide writes that the Red + wire should be connected to a +12 volt source that maintains power during engine cranking.
I was gonna connect to the radio until I read about this. The radio turn off when cranking.
Where can I connect that doesn't turn off while cranking? Or is there a direct wire coming from the key ignition that I can connect to?
Here is a picture of the wires from the steering column.
Thank you!!Last edited by 1batt4u; 10-30-2014 at 01:30 PM.

I know our cars have an AUX post under the hood that supplies juice, but not sure if it supplies power when cranking...might be something to look into if you can't get one under the dash somewhere.

I was googling it and someone mentioned a pink wire to tap into that has +12 volts while cranking. I'm not sure which pink wire from my picture. 1st one on left or middle?
Anyone knows?
