Interesting..Tripometer Resets itself
Just curious if anyone else has ever had a problem like this. It doesn't do it at any specific mileage, and I'm not sure what is causing it, but something happens that resets my tripometer when I'm not in the car, lol. I think it has something to do with when i shut off/start the car. I just figured out that it was resetting itself this morning, so it'll take a bit more careful watch to find otu when exactly its doing it. Anyone else have this problem, ever?

Check your battery. Low voltage will cause that.

yep, mine has done that a few times over the years... start the vehicle up, all the needles on the gauges go all the way to the end and then come back down, and the trip resets itself

Its a brand new battery in the car (as of late Nov./Early Dec. last year when i bought it) and I've not had any problems since then with low voltage.

I had a new bat too, but adding to what Ed said, intermittant voltage drops will do it too. Our babys don't like 'em at all! My bat, alt, everything checked out okay when I had them checked, but the problem was under the red rubber insulator on the positive bat teminal...it looked clean as hell from the outside, but when I skinned it back...the inside was caked with corrosion....courtesy of the 'ol AC Delco post leaking...the previous one did the same thing...! I wire brushed it with the 'ol dremel, went to wally-world and got an EverStart Maxx (it's been rated better than the Optima...sorry red toppers! and never had it happen since.

Well, it wasn't at 1k miles for sure, just over 100 and change. I've been another 100 or so and it hasn't reset itself yet. I almost wonder if it wasn't doing it on startup (its still cold here, 40's or so) and maybe it was pulling enough power that it 'starved' (for lack of better wording) the gauge cluster and caused it? I'm not sure, regardless, it hasn't done it since.
