Haaha i never say take it to a place... They do a crap job! Im not sure how hard it is in a camaro since ive never installed or can walk you through it, but i will be doing mine shortly. Its really quite easy, but I build police cars and do alot of wireing so.... I bet someone on here already has a write up for one and good luck.

Im not a big fan of changing the head unit out unless the system really requires it... Mainly because of theft reasons. What kind of box where you looking to buy/make. Im going to fiberglass one up. Or if your buying i know some cool sites let me know. What kind of subs do you want to install?

    My life is a
    Ben Stiller movie.

it's simple..have you ever done wiring like this before? If not, i'll try to break it down.

amp needs a few things, power, remote turn-on, ground, an input RCA converter and output lines. You will have to remove various interior panels to run all of the wires.

position the amp where you want it.

ground the amp to any metal bolt that goes through the body [the bigger the bolt, the better]

run the power wire to your battery.

run the remote wire [normally blue] to your fuse box next to the steering wheel. basically expose some of the wire and stick it into a fuse. MAKE SURE THE AMP SHUTS OFF WHEN YOUR CAR IS OFF. Just keep testing fuses until you find one that shuts the amp of permenantly.

    you're half way done.

the cars have "subs" located in the back seats. you will need to tap those wires from one speaker of the car to get an input signal. I can't remember which colors are what, check the wireing diagrams that are stickied, all you need is the + and - to connect to an RCA converter.

plug in the rca converter, then run your output wires to your sub.

should take about 3 hours if you haven't done this before

glad i can help. You should be able to just let the rca converter float freely near the amp, it doesn't have to be hidden

Ok when are you going to be wiring it up? This site makes awsome boxes for camaros and birds for a reasonable price in case you were intrested..

I havent looked yet but you can always drill a hole threw the firewall and put a gromit on it.

DO NOT PUT A HOLE IN THE FIREWALL!

take it along the passenger side, follow the fender just below the hood [you dont' want the hood to smash it when closed] and as you near the door, start to feed it through. A little bit of wire will be exposed in the door jam when it's open, but that's it. Remove the plastic piece that holds the carpet to the door's baseboard, it's like a 3 ft long, 2" wide plastic part with 6 screws in it: run the wires in that so they are hidden.
