How can I get the radio code?

    Hi,

I'm breaking my dd (an old Vauxhall), and a friend kindly put in a aftermarket hu for me, a Kenwood KDC-3090R.
Unfortunately this was 8 years ago, and my friend has since moved away.

I have no record of the radio's code, how can I retrieve the security code? Is it easier to get before I disconect the battery?

p.s. I have had the hu out (still wired in), in the hope the code might be on the back, but no cigar.......

    Thanks for the help,

The radio access code should have been written in the owner's manual. If the code is there, call your local dealership, and talk to parts/service, and they'll get you the radio code from GM.

    Hi Thrilla,

    Thanks for the advise.
This is an aftermarket hu, so the dealer won't be able to get it....

Thanks for the advise, I'll give them a call.
I have just herd that many aftermarket hu don't have a code, so I might not need one anyway!
    I'll call kenwood anyway.

yeah I would start there. Can't hurt any, that's for sure.

I have had a few Kenwood Excelon units, and don't ever recall any of them having the security code feature.
