    Gauges acting funny on startup

When I start my car especially after sitting for a week or two all of the gauges go far right then far left and then to the run position. When this happens it resets the trip meter. At one point I thought I fixed it when I found the ground cable nut loose on the inner fender well. Now ever thing is tight and it still does it. Not ever time butmore then once.
    Got any ideas??
    Thanks, Bob

+1 on the battery. Also check for corrosion on the battery terminals

A TSB exists for this issue, and this happens more often when it is colder. But your cluster in essence needs to be replaced.

    Bummer

I was afraid someone was going to tell me the cluster is gone. That is mucho $$$ I have heard. I guess it is not a big thing. If I drive the car a lot it seems to go away. I drive it ever couple of weeks right now and it seems to be there ever time I start it. What is a TSB? And where do I find them?
    Thanks, Bob

I have not posted here in a very long time (I'm just cruising through looking for plug wire advice ) but I have found this not to be true.

I remember when this was a brand new issue and the tsb came out. I said screw it. I can live with it. After putting up with it for 6 years on my '99 WS6 I replaced the battery and it has not happened since.

    Good luck,
    John

ETA: Wow, post number one! And it says I registered in 2005. I guess that is what happens when you stop participating regularly. I actually joined in 1998 when Bradley first started this site and had a single digit LS1 Association membership number.
    I miss you guys.

TSB is a Technical Service Bulletin - here's the one for the '99 Trip Reset, doesn't mention the gauge sweep but usually happens at the same time. A good fully charged battery/connections will make it go away. http://home.earthlink.net/~cetera/pics/aug99tsb.jpg
