    front speakers

    just a couple of questions:

if you have a set of 6 1/2 components for the front doors and they are 4 ohm can you wire them to 2 ohm? if so how? also the factory speakers, are they 2 ohm in the front? thanks for easing the frustration - is my theory right in saying that this would put less stress on the amp? the amp won't deliver as much power to those 4 ohm speakers as it would to 2 ohm speakers,it would just be 3 dB less efficient assuming both of the speakers are of the same sensitivity,Or, to put it another way, at the same volume settting as you used to use, they won't play as loud. Initially you may have to kerfutz with the balance/fader controls a bit. Once they're set you should be good to go. i hope any of this is making sense
    thanks again,

if you look closer the combined set might be 4 ohm.
wiring them in parallel will lower your ohm load, wiring them in series will raise it. 0 is dead short and going from 4 ohms 2 ohms will put more strain on your amp and cause distortion quicker.... but that said i'm running my memphis 1000D at 1/4 ohm
