    from first to fourth, WTF

HEy does anyone know how to take out the chip that makes your car go from first gear to fourth gear in order to save gas around town. This little shit is on my 99 camaro and I just want it gone. Please someone stop the pointlessness.

^^ not so sure that's the best one to do. the guy i bought my car from did that, and sometimes it makes a light grinding sound going into third. i don't know if it's from that or what. it usually happens about the time the skip shift light comes on. i'd say go with the real one. it's like 20 bucks.

I seriously doubt it is from that. Sounds like you have other issues.

My trans grinds sometimes while going to 3rd as well, but I don't think its from the skipshift eliminator. Usually its just when its cold, I'm going to change the fluid and see if it helps any.

The $20 skip shift eliminator is exactly the same as the 20 cent eliminator - the only difference is the housing that makes install and removal easier.

I went the cheap route, got a 5 pack of resistors. My tranny works like a dream with this mod done. None of the aforementioned grinding is present for me. I think that is some other problem. If anyone wants one of my extra 4 resistors pm me your address and I'll send it to you 1st class - or just go to radio shack and get a 5 pack for 99 cents yourself!

did changing the fluid help? i just don't get what it is. my 3rd gen would do it sometimes going into reverse. almost as if the rpms are too high for the gear.

I just changed the fluid to Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF 2 days ago. The trans definitely shifts nicer and smoother overall, but the 3rd gear grind is still there when the trans isn't warmed up yet.

I think its definitely the synchro for 3rd gear, and changing the fluid can't fix that
