Double din Options
Hello all, I am wanting to replace the stock head unit but I hate the look of a single din and I dont want a motorized fold out either. So I was wondering if anyone could tell me my options as far as using a double head unit. In other words is there enough room to fit one in a 97 Camaro dash? And what kind of mods will need to be done to the face plate as well. If anyone has pictures of thier installs I'd love to see them.

Not sure about your double din options, but have you thought about using a Humount, I think they look great and a lot of people on here use them.

There is a company on another forum, that makes double din dash fronts for our cars. If you pm me i'll tell you where. Just don't want to advertise a non sponsor.

I bought a Kenwood DPX 502 a few months back. Only modifications I had to make were shaving down the face place a little, and that was it. I had to squeeze in the deck, but it fit perfectly, and tightly, and looks great. I'll post a pic when I get the opportunity. Hope this helped.

I've seen that. I think I have the link saved somewhere. But, it didn't look like that clean an installation if you're talking about the same site???
I just hate to change up the dash like that.
To the OP...
There is always this unit:

Yea Ive seen that head unit and that site. If pioneer didn't try to squeez so much crap that I realy don't need to see onto that screen I would go that rout but it is just way to damn crowded

Yeah, quite a few people here have that. If I do get a new HU and it's a single DIN, that is the way I would do it. And, agreed about the Pioneer.

Yea I may just do that then because I just got done painting my radio bezel and dont feel like doing that again. Thanks for the input, I'll just think it over for a while

That's what I'm doing. Thinking it over for a while
In the mean time, the Monsoon HU, Hertz speakers and Kicker Subs will do. I pretty much just listen to XM and my ZUNE and don't need a thumping system like I did in my 20's

I already took the time to sand all of my bezels smooth so I could take the time to just fit a double din and then fill and finish the same way mine are now. Here is current
