SUNSET ORANGE- 2001 CAMARO SS
door speaker question (Infinity 6022si)
I have been looking for a replacement for my blown door speakers for my 2001 SS stock Monsoon system.
I called Crutchfield and they recommended the Infinity 6022si at $70. The picture on their website looks like it would be very easy to connect my tweeter wires by just cutting the tweeter wires on the 6022si and soldering them to the tweeter wires in my harness...and then connect my woofer wires directly to the 6022si terminals. What do you guys think? anyone tried these?
Thanks,
Eddie

I'm running some Infinity 2 ohm speakers... have been for 2 to 3 years now. Don't remember the model number, but they work great and sound better than stock.

SUNSET ORANGE- 2001 CAMARO SS
I just installed my Infinity 6022si door speakers in my SS. They sound as good if not better than my stock Monsoon did when it was new. I just wanted to thank all you guys that have posted (in stickies etc.) for your great help and instructions. I would not have attempted it without your help.

Just cut the tweeter wires on the 6022si and solder them to the tweeter wires in the harness...and then connect the woofer wires directly to the 6022si terminals. On the tweeter part of the 6022si, I disconnected the input side of the capacitor and connected
the tweeter wire from the car harness. I am happy with the sound of them in my SS.

Which wires are tweeters and which are woofer? I posted this same question about sail panel speakers but no one responded. The factory connector has 2 red and 2 red/black wires one set on each side of the factory speaker. I haven't been able to find a difference in them one way or the other.

Download the .zip file at the top of this thread. It has a wiring diagram for the monsoon system. I dont remember which ones off hand. Also if you look at the factory speaker it was the pigtail that was attached to the terminals that had the wires pass through the outer cone and attach to the tweeter. On the 6022si the tweeter is the pair of insulated wires. One wire goes to a capacitor.

Where's the zip file? I'm talking about the pig tail that's in there. THanks!

Forgot to paste the link. The wires the pigtail plug into have an actual color code and you can use the wiring diagram to determine what goes where.

I bought my maro 2 years ago and the speakers were on there way. This summer one got tweaked on power tour. I am very pleased with the end result. Especially since I have only about $200 into all 6 speakers.
