Did i get the wrong speakers?

I know for the camaro, the Infinity Kappa 62.7i will work for the doors. And i was planning on getting them..

So i went to order, and i guess i hit the wrong thing, or they sent me the wrong thing.. i got the Infinity Kappa 62.9i

    Will these still work?

The specs look to be the same. Besides the 62.9i is Top Mount Depth: 2-5/16 Inches instead of 2'' of the 62.7i Here is a link to the 62.7i and the 62.9i

    http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=19729 -- 62.9i

    Thanks for the help

I was looking at the 62.9i, and it has a built in cross over, ''on the wire'', thats the black box hanging off.. i know that i dont need them to be crossed, since my amp already did it.. so how would i over come this?

You should able to either turn off the xover or bypass it. The instructions should tell you.

The instructions only tell me how to bolt it down, and how the wires go into the Cross over box. And the only place to plug the audio wires in are on that box..

    :/

There should be a dial or buttons to set the xover at different frequencies.

If there isn't anything just connect the speaker wires to the xover (mayve it's built in and preset).

As I said...maybe the xover frequencies are built in and preset.

Wire up your speakers and see how it sounds.

Worst case senario (if they don't sound good)....sell them and buy what you want.

Sorry I couldn't be more help

BC the monsoon amp in the car already crossed it. And on the speakers it has a built in Crossover box, as discussed before, so it would be ''Double crossed''

Try hooking up the speakers and see how they sound. I guess the xover on the amp cannot be turned off?

If they don't sound good sell them and get what you want.

If you are going to keep the amp you should find out at what point they are xover at.

I think the wires that go to the woofer are full range. You can just hook them to the crossover box. Can you take a pic of the back of the speaker? In the pic you can't see where the wire goes to.

I think I understand where you're going with this and it might be a bit of an issue.

As I understand it, the stock Monsoon amp routes leads for the woofer (lows - mids) and the tweeters (highs) separately and the tweeters are already crossed over. When connecting to the 62.7i's you have two sets of inputs on the speaker -- one to connect the positive and negative wires for the woofer and one to connect the positive and negative wires for the tweeter. Since you're routing the factory wire straight to the respective speaker (highs to highs and lows to lows), this isn't an issue.

With the 62.91's it looks like the only input into the speaker in through the built in crossover. Hence, without running new leads from the Monsoon amp, you would either choose to take the leads for the woofer (or the tweeter) and plug it into the built-in crossover on the 62.9i's. You could take the woofer lead and the only downside would likely be reduced power going to the tweeters. If you go that route, you'll probably need to turn the tweeters up higher (the Infinity tweeters are adjustible -- just twist them). It wouldn't make sense to choose the tweeter leads to power the Infinity's as all of your lows and mids are already crossed out at the stock amp.

Alternatively, if you're unable to return them and find a pair of 62.7i's you might be able to cut the crossover box off, and splice in directly on the wires going directly to the woofer and the tweeters. That should work, however it's tough to decide to just start hacking away.

    UPDATE: Get this...

I ordered the 62.7i from a complete different place.. they said they had em..

The sent me the SAME damn thing.. 62.9i.. reason was the same, bc they stopped making 62.7i..

The guy i talked to said i need to take it to a installer, and get them too see if they can cut the crossover box off, and soder the wires on manually on to these..

Do yall think this will work?

This sucks..i cant find a new pair on eBay..
