Custom HUmount install in Pics

here is the boring old metra faceplate behind my alpine cda-9887

and here is the teaser of a finished install

take off the bezel.......it just pulls straight out

it is a machined aluminum faceplate on top of a white plastic bezel..........the bezel holds the LEDs to illuminate the mount

i put the cage in the mount and painted it black to prevent stray light from the LED to show where it was not wanted

i left the space where the LED shines thru unpainted......i used model paint at 1st....but found that a black sharpie would work just as well

the LEDs mounted in .......they give you some aluminum tape to hold down stray light.......i wrapped it around the light bar

hook up the power leads for the LEDs at the radio light wire

all done !!! no more boring radio bezel

i only have it set up to light when the lights are on .......but you can wire it to stay on all the time

Looks great. I have one in my Grand Prix. I like the LED version. If that was available at the time I would have bought one of those instead of the lamp version.
