Can I connect a 4 ohm speaker to the 2 ohm input from the Monsoon setup?

Just pondering this question. I have an 4 ohm 8" sub to put in the sail panel hooked up to the stock equipment because I'm flat broke. I haven't taken anything off, so I wanted to know if it was possible and what effects this may have (i.e.; overwork/heat stock amp/speaker?).

I know that the best thing is just save up and do it right, but this question is bugging me and like a buddy said "life will cease to exist if I don't find out!"...lol. Thanks in advance!

It will sound fine. The speaker just won't get as much power as a 2 ohm speaker will. Less impedance equals higher current which means more power. Since the POS Monsoon system is so poorly designed though you're just as likely to blow the new speakers as well.

get an Alpine stereo head unit, and some above average speakers. also sub woofer and amp would be noice if u got the $

I am currently running 4ohm door speakers with the rest of the factory audio. It doesn't sound bad, no distortion. It can be done!

By no means am I saying this is a better substitute than converting your entire system over. Just stating it will work.
