    Bulb Problem!!!!!!

i changed my turn signal bulbs in the front of my car, and for the pasr 3 days i've replaced the same bulb 4 times, i think it's getting wet and blowing the bulb out. i see some condensation in the lens. this is annoying because you cant change it from under the hood you have to remove 2 screws and come in from the bottom. - has anyone had this problem? is there anything that i can do besides getting a new lens.

    Thanks

    My life is a
    Ben Stiller movie.

i've had bulbs blow on me due to water, but not that often!

I suggest replacing the harness and then inspecting the enclosure for any leaks. You might hav to do some unscrewing to get to them. Good luck.

OH, i used some all-weather epoxy/sealer to seal up the cracks on mine.

You may have to replace the bulb socket due to corrossion. But it is defiently the result of moisture affecting the bulb.

I filled the socket with dieletic grease before putting the bulb back in to make sure water and dirt stays out of the socket.

do not touch the bulbs, the residue from your hand causes them to blow

That will only affect the driving and any halogen or gas filled lamps, sealed beams are not incuded as they are "sealed" in the lens body. if you are worried a clean lint free cloth and some alcohol will clean them right up. Alcohol wipes work the best.

"Orcus79" the question was regarding turn signal bulbs & on those you don't want finger residue.

I replaced mine ('02 WS6) and touched them a few times with no probplems, other then the usual corrosion and dirt, a light file and some dielectric grease and all is well. The lamps used are your standard glass envelope vacuum evacuated lamps, unless your hands are really dirty there won't be problem. the biggest issue with these lamps, asuming that there are the same for the Camaros as for the Firebirds are the leads. They are very weak and can break where they enter the bulb.

Either way the best way to clean any lamp/bulb is some good rubbing alcohol and a clean cloth. Do not use glass cleaner.

Also check to make sure that the foam gasket that fits around the socket is in good shape and not damaged or missing.
