    99 Trans Am

    Black power antenna

    Looking for a power antenna for my 99 trans am convertible with a black mast, bought one from Ecklers they said was black mast but they sent me a camaro antenna in chrome... anybody?

    If it is a GM part, the original antenna has been discontinued for about a decade. The superseded part has bare metal last pieces, with a blacked out tip. Ask me how I know

    I am not sure if you can paint the mast parts but I would recommend against it anyways.

    I take it that you just bought the mast, correct? The assemblies say nothing to the color of the mast that it comes with.

    I haven't checked in for quite a while, but this post caught my eye since my antenna has been replaced once. I didn't realize they were no longer available. I mistakenly left my radio turned on when I went through the drive-thru car wash and tweaked the antenna. I straightened it and it wasn't bad, but now it sounds like it grinds gears every time I turn the radio on. Has anyone tried to repair the antennas like they did on the headlight motors?

    Not that I am aware of. Ours has made a grinding noise when it lowers since we purchased the car in 2009. My solution - leave the radio off and enjoy the pipe tunes.

    I pulled a stupid the other day and drove the car through the wash with the radio on, so I needs new one now.
