arright guys, help me out on this one.
hey guys, i'm new to the whole t-a thing but i have been around audio for a while but this one is just stumping me... the monsoon system sounds good for normal windows up driving but goin 90 down the highway and the tops off it gets kinda hard to hear, so i invested in the Infinit Component sets, which i know sound good. just hooked one side up (wired straight from the radio) and it sounds horrible. I was going to get coaxil's for the back and jus run all new wires. why does it sound soo horrible muffled and just...horrible!?

Black- 1999 Camaro Z28
A friend of mine had to replace the monsoon speaker in 97 formula, they were going to go after market but the guys at pontiac said if he did that he would have to replace the head unit as well because the monsoon head unit only worked with the monsoon speakers. Just what I have heard other than that I have no idea lol.

Ya i have a pioneer 7800 head unit in there, I hooked the wires back up goin from the head unit back to the amp, then jus got the wire down in the door to go into the crossover and it sounded..a good bit better. so i went ahead and did the otherside and it sounds alot better. But, for the back...it has the rear woofers in the back with a 4 plug connector, if i were to disconnect that and run some coaxils straight off the headunit, it would sound even worse. am i just going to have to end up getting a 4channel amp to power everything? and where to put it...

Pewter Metallic (1of?)- 2001 Formula M6(1 of 225)
hmm... hard to hear at 90 with the tops off and windows down? It's because of all the air that is rushing inside at 90mph drowning out the sound. it's called do the speed limit and just turn the radio up a little louder! Still sounds fine that way

I always thought the factory systems didnt go as loud as aftermarket, but way more distorted when loud. Even just changing the head unit makes a big difference.

Blue- 2005 Mustang Gt
Im big on the way things flow and look inside and out. And changing the head unit just looks like crap, anyone found a head unit that will actually fit or at least look good in the area left by the stock system.

Navy Blue Metallic- 2002 Trans Am WS6
be careful on what speakers you choose to put in the stock locations. the factory monsoon amp has a built in crossover. if you put full range speakers in the rear or front doors only certain signals are going to be processed. you should use a mid range or mid bass speaker up front and only a mid bass or woofer behind the seats.

ya I got the Infinity Componet set up in the front with the 6.5 mid and tweet. that sounds great...but once again, to go into the back, even if you were to get coaxil speakers, the only thing coming out would be the mids. disconnecting the very back speakers made a big difference too. the lil 4" speaker and tweeter jus cant handle that much power aparently. This is a nice car so everything going into has to stay nice and clean. people are putting actual 6.5" mid bass behind the seats and keeping the monsoon amp, but to get up into the decibel range i'm looking into, I'm pretty sure i'm jus gonna have to get a 4 ch. amp and put coaxils in the back. Anyone know how the monsoon amp is wired up for power? does it have its own 8-10 awg. wire goin back for power...?

6.5" mids the tweeter...? but once again, If you have the stock head unit, you have to go with the monsoon speakers. if you dont then you'd be best off looking at a component set somewhere. My infinitys sound awsome, but off the stock amp jus sound ok... i've been told the kicker components sound good...its really just prefrence. go to your local best buy and have a listen.
