antenna not moving
Hey everyone, my antenna stopped going up and down. I replaced the stereo, but it stopped moving before that. Any ideas on what my problem is? Also do I need to connect a lead wire from the stereo to the antenna to make it work? I am assuming so, but which one?

Don't replace it if you want to save money, you can buy a "hidden" antenna from advanced auto parts. It hides underneath your dash.
Otherwise, check all the wire connections back by the antenna and motor. Test them if need be. If nothing out there, check back by the radio, there will be at least 1 wire besides the antenna, see if you can find a schematic for the wiring and see which wire is the power antenna wire.

I like that idea about the hidden one. I just have to figure out how to close the one that is on there now. Thanks, man

Can you hear the antenna motor running? If not, the motor is shot. If you do, the gear inside the motor is stripped. Mine died last year, only 60k on the odometer...

no never hear it i think I am going to try the stealth antenna idea, i like the smoothness idea with no whip hanging out the car. you think I could jump the motor with a 12 volt source to see if the motor is ok?

Possibly, make sure it's a fused source though. And obviously make sure the motor is disconnected from any other source first.
Once you disconnect the power wires for the motor, I would test them (hooking a up a circuit light tester and turning the radio on and off, that way you wouldn't need a buddies hand). It would be good knowledge to have matter which way you decide to go.

I would test the wiring first, the motor may not require 12v, dumping the 12v could ruin it. See if you can find a wiring diagram for the wiring harness out of the back of the cd player, look up which one is the antenna, and if you have one, hook a voltmeter and make sure it's 12v before you hook up a 12v source.
If that isn't an option and all your looking to do is get the antenna down, you may be able to do it manually, depends on what the mechanics of the motor look like.

Sometimes the unmovable antenna can be solved by cleaning it with Hoppies gun oil while it's extended..
