You could put some shallow mount 8's in the rear with a good 6.5" component set up front or look for a good set of 6.5" subs.

It all depends on what you want, your budget and space.

    6.5" sub

That wont fit in the convertible. You have 2 1/2 inches of depth max because of the top mechanism.

He'll just need to find some shallow mount subs. There are a few out there.

Also the ED sub is 7" not a 6.5". Not sure if he wants to cut his car or not.
Its actually a 6.5" I do believe. Just like there 13kv..blah blah is a 12. Theres a couple stickies on how to install them. Its not hard and no cutting required. Not sure about the convertibles though.

Wow thanks for the recommendations guys. I am learning so much lately about cars its pathetic. And the mounting depth for the rear speakers is only 2 and a half inch? Do any come that small?

    6.5" shallow mount sub. Hmmm......

    Try these

    http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_id=6597
    http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_id=6143

This might fit if you can cut the opening.
    http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_id=6642

    Again it depends on a few things;

    ...your budget
...your goal (that is stock replacement or best sound for a certain price)
...type of music you listen to
...and if you can enlarge the opening or not.

    Pics would be helpful.

Either way, they still fit in a hardtop car without cutting.

The second one you linked isn't a subwoofer. Its a coaxial speaker.

Yes I am aware but it is a shollow mount 6.5" speaker. 6.5" shallow mount sub is uncommon.

My budget? Probably around 200$. Not much but I want something fairly decent. I hate those people who drive around and ALL you can hear is bass. I listen to rap so bass is fairly important. I prefer not to cut anything at all. And best sound for my budget. Maybe a lil more depending on how good the speakers are.

In all honesty I'd go with the 8" Pioneer. The 6.5 will not give you nearly as much bass as the 8". If you don't want to cut you may be able to fabricate a bracket. If not measure carefully so you have to trim as little as possible.

OR sacrifice some trunk space for a 10" or 12" sub there.

We'll see once the time comes...This thread definitely gave me a lot more insight about converts and sound systems.

Here's what I've added to my 'vert for a boost in bass. The rear seat speaker locations in a vert do not lend itself for good bass response due to no baffle. Mid/Hi is all you will get out of that location in the rear, regardless of how much woofer you can pack there or how much power you drive into it. If you can't afford to give up your entire trunk to a drop-in box w/ a pair of 12s, this little box does quite well. It can also be built for 4-8" subs.

    Nice set up Johnny.

Even two 8's are going to give almost as much bass as a single 12". I like it

YOu could ask for measurements and make it yourself or have it made (with the measurements). It can't cost that much.
