    2002 Trans Am Alarm?

Apparently this car has the stock alarm system with a shock sensor; there is a blinking light on the dash. Does anyone know how I arm it?

You are clearly missing the remote-entry FOB. You will probably have to get one from the dealer. I have read that you can 'sync' up other FOBs, if you purchase one elsewhere, like ebay, but I have no experience with that.

Your chilton manual explains this at one point, I believe.

There is no way to arm it otherwise.

I do have 2 remote entry key fobs. When I lock the doors, the horn honks twice and the red light on the dash blinks, but I can't seem to get any alarm to sound.

What happens if you open the door with your key? or the hatch, or kick your rear passenger tire?

It's possible that your alarm was specifically bypassed/disabled for an aftermarket alarm at some point. Your owner's manual tells you all the window/lock button combinations necessary to make sure it's set up properly.

With the driver window down, close the door and set your alarm. Then, reach in the window to unlock your door and open it. This should trigger the alarm.

OK, when I open the door with the key after I locked it with the key fob the horn does honk (alarm goes off). Is there a shock sensor with this system?

Maybe I'm missing something here...when the alarm is armed with the fob or lock switch...then door is opened with the door key...you only have a few seconds to get the key in the ignition or the alarm will go off...normal.

By default, the shock sensor is set to a low sensitivity. It's just about right, if you ask me. It goes off when someone hits your car, or if you kick the rear-passenger tire. It probably wouldn't go off if someone broke your glass, but this system wasn't designed for that.

Sounds like your alarm works fine.

My 01 Camaro has a sensitivity control knob on the box in the spare area, but I've never messed with it. Dont need it going off cuz a bird shit on it. So I'd leave it be IMHO..

The knob should be factory-sealed, and set properly. You might run into issues otherwise, but it's up to you.

On my 01 the knob is not sealed..It is clearly visible and molded into the case near the knob it states "sensitivity"(sp)..Can be turned with my fingers, but I never mess with it..I'll post a pic when the wifey gets home with it.

i agree, factory alarms are set so they dont go off if the wind blows to hard or someone with loud exhaust goes by, poeple set aftermarket alarms to high in sensitivity cause they think its the proper thing to do, actually it hurts them more. people will not pay attention to a car that has its alarm going off everynight opposed to one that never goes off. its the cry wolf syndrome
