    '02 T/A WS6 Sail Panel Monsoon Speakers????

    Hey all,

My T/A has the 10 speaker 500 watt Monsoon system. I'm starting to get a little speaker "vibration" in the right sail panel speaker when playing music on the radio. I'm figuring the speaker is starting to go. Are all the speakers for the Monsoon system 2 Ohms? What do I need to worry about should I need to replace these speakers?

I was really looking for an aftermarket speaker. I know what the factory speakers are usually made of, and aren't impressed by them. Is there an aftermarket speaker setup that is designed to work?

If you're going aftermarket, the Bazookas from Kee Audio are great.

The CDT AUDIO HD-6 M DVC 6. 5" DVC Subwoofers from Kee Audio are good also. And they are extremely easy to install. All you have to do is to cut the connectors off the factory speakers, strip the end of the wires and put them in the quick connects and plug the connectors back into the car.

I have no problem with cutting and splicing. I'll probably solder the connector over when I transfer it. So basically I'm just worried about a 4 ohm 6" speaker. No max watts or anything else? It also looked like, in the picture for that auction it was a one way, is that correct???

Just any speaker is not going to work well. You'll want a 6.5" midbass/subwoofer that is Dual Voice Coil in the sail panels. Unless you plan on doing away with hatch speakers and routing their wires to the sail panels.

Even though the thought of removing some speakers to shave a few pounds does appeal to me, I plan on retaining the overall layout. Thats why I am asking for this information. so I need:

    1) 6.5" midbass/subwoofer that is Dual Voice Coil
    2) 4 ohm

is there anything else I need to worry about???

dont have to remove it...just pop off the speaker cover and there's 4 bolts holding it to the sail panel. take the bolts off and then unplug the speaker from the connector. installing is just the reverse...after market speakers are a little more involved, but cutting/connecting the wires is a piece of cake

The stuff from Kee is much higher quality than factory junk and much more affordable.
The covers can be gently pried off. When removing the speaker screws be careful not to loose the nuts.

I just purchased a set of JBL GT6-6's for the sail panel. I was going to install it over the weekend, but someone smacked the rear bumper on my car (and also cracking the passenger trim board). I spent the time fixing the trim board instead. I still trying to figure out how I am going to solder the harnes to the speaker while inside to car. I wish there was a conecter adapter out there instead.

I am not seeing anything about these JBL's being DVC's and the person on the line at Crutchfield is telling me that theres no aftermarket speaker or subwoofer that would work in the "sail panel/b-pillar" without bypassing the amp or just distorting and destroying the speaker. They are sending me a call tag for return.

Will these "Bazookas" (CDT AUDIO HD-6 M DVC 6. 5" DVC Subwoofers) from Kee Audio definately retain the functionality and (better) quality as the factories in that spot? I really don't want to mess with things that much.

The Kee Audio speakers (Bazooka or CDT) are DVC just like the factory speakers. Just cut the factory connections off your old speakers and wire them to the new speakers.

I've been having problems getting an email response from Kee on the warranty of the CDT's. Does anyone know what warranty the subs' come with? I would really like to order them, but want to know this info first.
