wheel help
I just joined today. I am needing help. I have a 2005 gto. I am wanting to replace the factory 17" wheels w/ 18s. Ebay has several sets that are staggered 18"x8"front and 18"x9" back, but the offset shows to be 38, has anyone outhere used these wheels? they are hp or rpm brand. I want to run the largest rear tire i can w/o any rubbing issues. I can roll the rear quarters if needed. Thanks, Don

well, I know you CAN roll the fenders and that helps if they do rub, Sarge will have to help with the offset...

Dont forget the all mighty bolt pattern. You dont want to order a sick set and get stuck not fittin them on.
Also i find if you play with the wheel width you should change the offset.
I had a set of 17x8.5 with an offset of +50. I changed to Enkei NT03+m which were 18x8 with an offset of +35.
Here is a nice formula (wheel width * 25.4) - backspace in mm = offset
I go mm for the offset is in mm not standerd.
To tell if it is Positive or negative offset see where center peice sits. If it is towards the outside, the part away from the car, its positive. If it is towards the inside, closest to the brake rotors, you have negative offset.
Trust me it isnt easy finding the right size, but when you get the right combo going hold on.
Like i said i have 18x8 Enkei wheels and i wrapped them in toyo Proxe +4 245/40R18 (this was a doosy to figure out, but you can at www.tire.com, click on info center and find calculations made simple)
Let me know if you would like any additional help, i am just +3 GMT so please be patient
