    Transmission (Synthetic or Not)

I am changing the transmission fluid on my 06 GTO. Does anyone know if GM Dexron VI transmission fluid is synthetic, a synthetic blend or even synthetic at all? And how many quarts does it take?

I use Dex VI in everything GM. It is synthetic and really good stuff. I use Valvoline Dex VI. Great add pack. High detergency and exceeds GM Dex VI specs. Not all Dex VI are equal so buyer beware.

Got a quick question not to hijack this thread but really did't want to start a new thread for it. Does the GTO trans pan have a magnet in it? Getting ready to do a filter and fluid change and wanted to know if I need to pick up a magnet as well.

Just did the filter and fluid change and my pan had a magnet in it. Maybe 05+ come with one while 04's don't? I highly doubt someone else put it in there from the looks of the crap at the bottom of the pan it was fairly dirty for only 24k on it.
