Exclamation Tranny Swap with a twist

    Dear All,

I hope you all are havin a great Day.

    As the topic states i am interested in a tranny sway from a M30 (4L60e) to a M12 (T-56) out of a Cadillac CTS-v.

I found other similar swaps but they are only similar and outdated. I am lookin for Torque settins and Wire diagrams, especially wire diagrams.
Now the twist is i am workin on a 2006 Caprice SS. It is the older sister to the Holden Marano which is the Pontiac GTO. I have found everything i need, but the wire diagram is stoppin me.

I am lookin forward to your replies

    Naf

While we're on the topic, has anyone done a swap from an automatic to a 6 speed in the GTO's? I bought a 6 speed because I wanted the wife to not hate me(she doesn't drive manual, and she didn't know I was getting the car (I didn't think I would be getting a new car that morning myself, for that matter), and now I wish I had gotten the 6 speed. Do swap kits come up frequently, or do I need to find a wrecked GTO?

Thats a good question. I personally do not know of anyone who has done the swap for a GTO, your best guess is to visit a scrap yard, if you wanted to save money, however, you could just visit your local dealer and enquire about the necessary parts. But be prepared to dish out some serious money.

I would never go through a dealer for most of the parts. Maybe trim parts that show wear after use. Nothing mechanical.

I worked for years as a line mechanic at a Chevy dealership, back in the 90's, so I have the mechanical ability, I just wonder about what's needed to successfully perform the swap these days. Different computer(most likely), but what about anti theft systems? Those are what really throw you for a loop these days. Does the computer have to be programmed to the key?

Also, again, have any of you seen swap "kits" or salvage yards offering these things. I'm sure I could find a wrecked GTO in a yard somewhere. I don't really want to buy every conceivable item involved with the transmission/wiring/computer, just to make sure I get everything needed.

I did one on my '89 5.0, and it wasn't much more difficult than changing a clutch. The difficult part was getting the pedal assembly up under the dash. Had to pull the dash away from the firewall, and even then it was difficult. The wiring was easy, and I used the stock auto computer with no problems. That was in a car that was 15 years older than the GTO though, I'm sure the computer part won't be that simple.
