Torrid Red- 2005 GTO
I have read in several places that the stock stall speed is 1700-1800 rpm. The stock converters are set up for good mileage, not performance. I changed the converter on my 05 GTO to a 3000-rpm stall and now I can't go wot under about 40 mph without smoking em.

Yellow- 05 GTO A4
04 gto 1700 rpm
05 and 06 ls2 gtos.
Set the ebrake fully.
Stand on the foot brake.
trans in first ,d, or 3.
Roll down on throttle till 1/2 to 2/3rd throttle.
With back tires not rotating tach will be 2200 to 2300.
That is how dead stall is tested. Flash will be higher.
My car is the first ls2 powered GTO sold in the US.
I ran that test the first night I got it.
Also 04 to 05 GM stated a .7 improvement in 0 to 60.
50 hp was not enough to do that. Had to loosen the converter.

maybe a tune?would help change the tcm or change the tune to work better with traction control,if your running street tires best of luck my 05 had 18s they would not hook with tc off any where from 40-70 mph on street tire even from a roll, get some nittos, youll thanks me they r the best all around for the car.IMO

I had most of the torque management removed when I had it tuned and I always turn off tc for more fun. I just don't have enough traction with the Toyo 275's on the rear. I thought about the Nittos, but I want good handling too. Do your Nittos give decent handling? I'm not sure the Nittos will give me enough traction either. I'm currently putting down 415 rwhp through a rather loose 3000-rpm converter.
