Thinking about the future
Im saving up for a new crate engine to replace the ls2 now coming up on 74k. I know i have some time, but crate motors are expensive so the timing is great to me. I would love an LS7, but money doesnt grow on trees. If i cant hit the 13k mark before my ls2 craps the bed, what other ls platforms should i be looking at. Any input is great thanks.

74k is a drop in the bucket for ls engines so you got a while. Unless you beat the shit out of it. But I would look at ls3,lq9 or if your going the FI route the 5.3 litre ls based engines can make good power. The new LT1 engines look like fun but no idea how hard they will be to get the computers and all to work in our cars. Look at TSP also they brought back their affordable street racer crate engine line.

+1 on the LS3, id take a blown LS3 over an LS7. and probably cheaper.
I was actually just looking at the TSP set-ups. Since you already have an LS2, you can get one of their built LS2 short blocks and throw on all your existing components and be doing pretty good.

i would like to stay N/A if at all possible, but a blown LS3 does sound pretty awesome. Might be a dumb question so please dont ream me, but. Is fitment and issues between any LS motors?

I could be wrong, but I think in a GTO youre good to go on clearance. But sadly, youre also pretty much limited to centrifugal superchargers, a KB is possible in your car, with some modification, don't know about magnacharger.
Tick just built a supercharged LS3 with Mast heads, 689/698 on the dyno.

Magna will work also in a gto.
You shouldn't have to worry about fitment with ls series engines. They are pretty much made for easy drop in any GM v8 car.

Maggied LS3 should fit. Kenne Bell blowers are taller than Maggies if I recall.
