Thermostat

Im sure this has been asked several time but here it goes. How do I tell which thermostat is in my 04 GTO? What is the outside diff. between the early model and the late model. I wanna get a 160 deg. but I dont know which fits my car. Please help, thank you.

I don't think that the outside housing would be diff. But I'd look into the SLP one if you were going to get one mine works fine.

I know that one is just a therm. and the other is a therm. built into the housing. I just dont wanna tear it apart to find out.

The housing the thermostat are separate. SLP sells a 160 that fits the housing. To take advantage of the theromstat you'll need to reprogram the fan settings.

When was it built? Pretty sure the '03 built cars had the old setup but don't know when it was changed over.

The id tag on the core support says may of 04. I seen a picture somewhere once of the new and old housing side by side once but I cant find it anymore.

go to autozone...they have the mr gasket for like 13-15 bucks..and yea u need to get a reprogram so u can see/fell the diffrence.

im not installing it now, im just collecting stuff to do when I do a cam swap. Ill put everything in and then have it tuned all at once. kind of a kill two birds with one stone sort of a deal.
