is it better to start the car periodically over a 9 month period, or disconnect the battery and drain the fluids? this will be the 10th country ive been to, so I know that starting the car wont severely hurt anything. however, realizing shes 11 now I want to do whats better in the long run. input?

I would not recommend draining any of the fluids. Better to treat the fuel with Stabil (run the car after dumping it in the tank so that it circulates throughout the fuel system), and ensure that the oil is fresh and the coolant not beyond its intended life span. If you drain the fluids, you allow air into the system and any ferrous metals will rust. Aluminum can also oxidize with a white flaky crust. Inflate the tires to just under their maximum pressure (to allow for pressure increase with higher temps). It helps to run the engine and drive the car on occasion while stored to circulate fluids. Just be sure to fully run it up to operating temperature and keep it there for a bit so as to avoid moisture building up in the engine and exhaust.

What Jeff said. Is it staying at hm or with the unit? I know the unit pool doesn't do squat.
