Well........Not good at all. They are tiny for such a high horsepower vehicle. I own an 04 and sometimes it feels like I gotta press the brake pedal through the floor to get the vehicle to stop, especially braking at high speeds. I'm going to upgrade the brakes on my 04 and I would recomend that you do the same. If you plan on doing some pretty heavy mods you're going to need all the stopping power you can get. GM fixed this problem with the 2005 model year, so you may want to see if you can get a set of 05-06 brake calipers. I have no idea why GM put those calipers on the 04 when the breaks for the Vette were even bigger (the Vette is lighter too while the GOAT is heavy as hell), it just doens't make sense. Just my 2 cents, Homie!!

When I first got mine I was like WTF? they worked good but felt like they were chinsey especially Coming from my 01 tundra which had the best brakes that I've ever had on a vehicle. Many 04 owners have upgraded and I'll be upgrading soon as well because they are starting to warp at 17,+++ miles and I've never even braked hard enough for the abs to work.

They aren't as bad as some think. Mine held up fine on the road course at Memphis during the F-Body Event a couple of years ago. Was outbraking quite a few F-Bods Still on the exact same setup as then and still going strong.

Forgot to say, I did put on durastop ceramic C5 front pads when I had about 500 miles on the car. No dust but really isn't a good track pad at all.

I didn't do the calipers, but I did put cross-drilled and slotted rotors, with new ceramic pads. They seen to be doing quite well, so as of yet I'm not going with bigger calipers. My .02 worth and mine counts.....LOL

I changed to slotted rotors, ceramic pads, and braided stainless steel brake lines and noticed a considerably stiffer pedal. So for around $500-600 you can upgrade your braking performance considerably cheaper than stepping up to a big brake kit. Another upgrade some guys are doing is putting '05 brakes on their '04's, but I'm not sure how much braking performance that adds.

I got to find out just how good my stock brakes really are last night. I was going @60mph and in the right lane when a car in the middle lane apparently shut down and swerved over to get on the shoulder about 50' in front of the car in front of me. I would've been fine but the guy in front of me nailed his brakes so I had to do the same and my brakes whoa'd me up in an instant.
Very adequate braking for our heavy cars and showed me just how good they really are.
P.S. Mine have 18,000 miles on them.

Mine work excellent. I've up-graded to Baer slotted/drilled rotor, Hawk pads ans stainless lines. All stock '04 diameter stuff though with stock calipers.
