Sirius Satt Radio w/FM Modulator Fun
Been meaning to install Satt Radio in the GTO for sometime. Was at Best Buy buying a new laptop for my daughter and saw the new Sirius Satt radio w/car install kit for $60 bucks. So I got it. Also I bought the FM Modulator for $20 bucks ( hard connects to antenna) versus the wireless antenna thing.....all the wireless FM seem to be lower quality and especially if your in a area with lots of FM stations you get a background hiss/noise. The FM Modulator eliminates all that crap.
I borrowed the radio removal tool from Pontiac....they charged me a dozen kolaches ....I was happy to do so.....
Ran the antenna to the drivers side roof....I offset it to the drivers side as it just seems to fit and look more factory offset versus dead center of the roof looked like a pimple....but put it anywhere you feel like.....ran the cable under the windshield gasket...to the door....down the inside gasket under the dash.
I tore the dash apart...you have to remove the center console and all the way up.....I had to remove the radio and the radio cage.....really not that big of a deal...looks worse than it is...
Plenty of room to the left and directly behing the radio to stuff the modulator.....by the way...you'll need the VW-10 and VW20 antenna conversion cables (Best Buy $12 bucks) to install the modulator in line with your existing antenna.....Powered the unit from a switched ( only on with the key on) port out of the fuse panel under the steering wheel.....I put the head unit under the little cubby hole.....it comes with a few mounting brackets and this is rock solid and fits perfect.....buttoned it all up and fired it up....Outstanding sound quality with the fm modulator and it looks as close to "factory" as I could get it.....all in all under $100 bucks and a few hours....I'm happy....very nice addition to the overall experience of driving the Goat......

Hi Sarge,
Nice job. Quick question, where did you get the honeycomb inserts for your front bumper cover? Thanks for your help in advance.
