Putting the power down
So, I'm interested in getting an 06 Goat, I just have a few questions of a slightly diff. nature than the head/cam/headers...
What is the strut rub everyone talks about? I would like to know before I go looking.
Also, how well do these cars put the power down?
I ask because I'm used to BMWs, cars that are very very well balanced, just not that powerful. I like great handling and braking, and am curious what you guys might do to increase those aspects, as opposed to the power.
I'm looking to handle well and brake well, not just scream down the strip....as much fun as that is!
Thanks!

Phantom Black Metallic- 2004 GTO M6
The strut rub is when the front tires rub against the struts. Also related to the "spring sag" dilemma. When the GTO was shipped from Australia to the US, they were strapped down to the crates, but were strapped down HARD and caused the suspension components to "squish" and fail prematurely.
Look up Pedders, Lovells, Energy Suspension.

poly bushing all around under the car with the pedders adjustable radius rod bushings and a good set of springs will make the car handle like a dream and solve strut rub problems.
the GTO has lots of power even for a heavy car (Holden actually built it to compete with BMWs quality).
peak number might look good on paper, but overall power under the curve it where the LS1/2 really shine and out perform the BMW
I'm not knocking the F-bodies, but the goat is high end when it comes to GM quality

good to know...I just want a minimum investment if I do buy one. I just don't want to have to change out all the control arms, and bushings and whatnot like you do on a Bimmer every 75000miles....
Glad to hear it's better quality than the F-body. I had a 2000 Trans Am 6-speed, and loved it, but the interior wasn't great. Plus little things started to go wrong all at once...starter, rear end, headlights....
Thanks!!

Yea the 05/06 brakes were stoute. They had a guy around town that had an 06 PBM with some CCW 505As(18 up front 19 out back) and had the Baer BBK and it looked stunning!
