ok, i started my free mods!
I started working on my free mods today.
Step 1: I unhooked my coolant lines entering the TB, but i forgot my hose connector at work, so i gotta wait on finishing that.
Step 2: I removed my intake hose, box, maf, and IAT sensor. I drilled a new hole in my air box right in between the intake for the box, and the outlet to the MAF. I inserted the sensor and sealed it with black permetex. I will provide pics of where i put it as soon as i find my camara.
Step 3: I used a hunk of sterafoam to plug the previous IAT sensor hole, and them i permetexed that in also. Now it's all drying ready to be put back in.
So if you guys know where im talking about on the box, do you think it's a good spot for the IAT? Im assuming so, it's away from the radiator and looks like it'll be reading fresh air right before it enters the filter. Sound good?

Polish your TB.
Remove the trailer hitch bracing. Take out all the bullshit in the trunk.

I pulled that plastic thing down, but i havent taken it all the way off. It's still clipped somewhere in the back it seems. Anyway, Are you talking about that black V-shaped brace? Thats all i see under there. Im probably gonna leave off the plastic thing on the passenger side because im probably gonna do the duel exit exhaust.

Whats the trailer brace for? Was the Monaro able to tow? Or you mean in case THIS car has to be towed? I know the manual says "The GTO is not designed nor intended to tow a trailer"

I saw a video of a monaro and it had a freaking hitch sticking out of the bumper, and by the looks of this brace, its for a hitch of some type.

Yep. Im taking all of the useless bullcrap off this car. I removed that big hunk of metal in front of the fuel tank which is said to weight 30 lbs. Im gonna remove this big 25 lb piece of garbage and im probably removing the skid plate as well. So im probably removing 65-70 lbs with just these three things.

hey Sarge, you're always talking about the 200 lbs of crap from US standards. Where are some other easy ones to remove? or is it mostly stuff that has to be gotten too and cut out>

Get out your angle grinder. Take them doors off and cut them braces out. Firewall also has bracing. Then you have the collapse bracing in the frame. None have anything to do with frame rigidity but all to do with US safety requirements.

DAMN, After i put everything back together after my mods, my car is making a funny noise... I did forget to plug the MAF in and it ran for alittle bit without it plugged in. I plugged it in and it smoothed up but i still think i hear a noise. Running without the MAF shouldnt hurt anything should it?
