    Odd thing going on...

Over the last week or so, I've noticed a disturbing tendency for my car to move / rock about 1.5 inches when putting it in 1st/reverse with the clutch ALL the way in. If I have my foot on the brake, the rear even drops a teeny bit. The clutch isn't slipping, at all. But it doesn't seem to be disengaging properly.

There is a weird chirping sound coming from the midsection of the car when it's first started up. Increases and decreases with RPM, but goes away after about 2500 rpms. Related to the above?

Also, as I have driven the car more, and gotten more familiar with it, it seems like there is a fair amount of driveline slack in it. This a result of the two piece driveshaft?

Couple of thoughts firstly....The rear end does "squat"...that is normal of a IRL setup....Yes the 2 piece DS does have slack....the chirping may be your exhaust touching your DS....the exhaust does loosen up and move around a tad and there is hardly any clearance under there....Few folks have noticed similar clutch engaging/disengaging charecteristics after some miles....many have seemed to "fix it" by changing out the factory fluid with a Motul/Valvoline DOT4 synthetic fluid that allows better pressure to the clutch....and replacing the clutch line with a steel braided line that stiffens and doesnt flex under pressure....I'd also consider going to a poly bushing setup in the rear....really stiffens things up and is well worth the couple of hours and less than $50 bucks.....
Cuts out some of the rear end "slop".... http://www.neweraperformanceparts.co...06&NID=2909586

I have the Extreme Performance 3 1/2" DS....dayum did it make a difference....

When I was referencing the "squat", I meant - at a stop, pushing in the clutch, and putting it in gear without giving it any gas. It's noticeable drop, for sure

That 2 piece driveshaft is getting yanked out next week....Fuck that noise...

It doesn't *sound* like the exhaust hitting the driveshaft, because the pitch of the chirping sound changes with RPM, doesn't matter if it's in gear and moving or not...I'll see if I can get a recording of it tonight, and post it here and you can take a listen. I had an issue with the exhaust hitting the frame/driveshaft before on my old GT once before...

I had planned on changing out to synthetic anyway. Just will do it sooner rather than later.

I was wondering if it was just me that thought the clutch felt a bit mushy on these cars...

How does that affect ride? I would think it would make it *better*, since it allows the suspension to do the job *better*, without the looseness.

Good to know. I'll probably go with that one, even thou it supercedes any power levels I intend to make with the car.
